ZAR is the currency abbreviation for South Africa’s official currency, the South African rand which is made up of 100 cents. The currency was introduced in 1961 and it has been through some tough times. Due to the political uncertainty and fragile economy of the country, the rand has suffered major blows and depreciation that haven’t allowed it to be trusted in the forex market and international trading scene.
