A rally is simply a period of sustained upward movement in an asset’s price, which takes place when there is an abundance of buyers and a lack of sellers, causing the asset in question to make steady increases in value that are usually characterized by higher-lows and higher-highs. Rallies can be slow and steady or parabolic in nature, in which case they do not consolidate and post higher-lows, but rather rise straight up with each period closing higher than the last.
