A gap-up occurs when an asset’s price rises rapidly in value, causing the next candle to trade higher than the previous one with a gap between them. Gaps-up are most prominent in markets that remain closed over the weekend as any bullish news that is released when markets are closed will cause the price to gap-up when trading resumes on Monday morning.
