Economic IndicatorBack to Glossary
Economic indicators are reports released by the central banks of countries and economic regions like the European union, detailing the performance of various areas of their economies. This information includes GDP, retail sales, consumer spending, interest rate announcements, trade balance and many more besides. These reports are used by fundamental analysts to determine changes in the value of the forex pairs they trade. They are also used by short-term traders who like to trade before and after the various reports are released as volatility is typically higher at these times.
