Coincident IndicatorBack to Glossary
Unlike lagging and leading indicators, coincident indicators neither precede nor follow the conditions in the economy that they report on. Like GDP and consumer prices, they record conditions on the ground as and when they are happening. The market movements that follow the release of these types of reports tend to be sentiment driven, as the good or bad news they report encourages traders to either buy or sell.
